Kitakiya, Candy Sculptor

"Amezaiku" is a traditional craft that has been practiced in Japan since the Edo period. Melted candy is applied to a stick, and within the few minutes it takes to cool and harden, the artisan uses their hands and a pair of scissors to shape it into various animals and plants right before your eyes. Each piece is carefully handcrafted one by one—truly works of art! It’s a form of “edible art” that’s rarely seen these days—fun to watch, fun to display, and delicious to eat!
